When the owner of Rancho Verde purchased the 588 acres, he envisioned a community of homes designed with environmental sensitivity and maximizing the site’s exquisite natural beauty. It would be a unique neighborhood, he imagined, one founded on green principles and harmony with its natural location.
To bring that vision to life, the services of Consensus Planning Inc. in Albuquerque, New Mexico were utilized. The company worked to create a space that perfectly merged residences with open space. Two-hundred-and-fifty-five residential lots were designed, ensuring that 240 acres of open space remained. This open space is permanently preserved as green space, an integral part of Rancho Verde’s legacy.
A neighborhood demands roads, but the roads at Rancho Verde were designed to follow the natural contours of the site, thereby minimizing the erosion of environmentally sensitive areas. The natural country character of Rancho Verde was further preserved by the placement of utility services including electrical, cable, telephone and water, underground, to reduce both their conspicuousness and their impact on the area.
To keep the architectural styles, building materials and placement of homes synchronized, cohesive and visually appealing at Rancho Verde, a series of building covenants govern the development of individual property sites. This insightful strategy will simultaneously minimize the environmental impact of the homes on the site and add significantly to the re-sale value of individual properties.
The covenants ensure that residents at Rancho Verde will have spectacular views from their homes, without sacrificing the stands of Piñon trees and indigenous vegetation that defines and distinguishes this area. In so doing, the covenants protect the community for generations to come.
